Sala Golfers return after summer break to compete at Atalaya Golf & Country Club followed by awards ceremony at La Sala.
After a well earned 2 month break, we were delighted to welcome the Sala Golfers back to continue competing in the 2022 Sala Golf competition on Saturday 17th September at the exquisite Atalaya Golf & Country Club.
The golfers were welcomed by the Sala Golf Team with sandwiches and a selection of Sala Golf merchandise, before they made their way off to their tees for a 9am shotgun start. Our terrific sponsors were there to support, with International Marbella supplying golfers with their delicious sausage rolls and premium Gin & Tonic bar on the 10th tee. Furthermore, Vinomarket were there to supply the finest wines for the Individual and Team prizes.
Golfers made their way back to La Sala for the prize giving, and were welcomed with free flowing drinks and food and as if by magic, as soon as they stepped inside the warmth of the stylish restaurant, the rain started pouring!
The Closest to the Pin (Par 3) on hole 16 was won by Grant Evans, taking home a magnum of wine, supplied and sponsored by International Marbella.
The Closest to the Pin approach shot (Par 4) on hole 9 was won by Tony Collier, also winning a magnum of quality wine.
The Longest Drive for men, on hole number 17 was won by Aaron Kavanagh, who managed to smash his drive down the fairway to claim his magnum of wine!
The Longest Drive for ladies, also on hole number 17, was won by Claudia Phillips, winning a magnum of wine.
The Individual Prizes were next, and the runner up, with 42 points overall was Stale Aarnes. Stale just beat Claus Larner on a countback to claim his Vinomarket wine and Sala Group vouchers.
The Individual Winner on the day was Christiaan de Zwart, with a huge 47 points overall.
The 3rd place team at Atalaya (Old) was Team Par-Tee, with a very impressive 90 points overall!
In 2nd place was Team Toys, with 92 points overall, captained by Steve Richardson.
Leaving the winning position on the day to Bon Vivant! Scoring 98 points overall and taking home the winning prizes of Vinomarket wine and Sala Group vouchers.
Unfortunately someone always has to take home the famous Wooden Spoon prize, and this month it was Tim Kerry, with 20 points overall. As a Sala Golf regular, we are sure Tim will be back at our next event to show the rest of the Sala Golfers what he is made of!
Our Sala Golf competitions are committed to supporting The Elena Gaite Foundation, and aim to raise substantial funds through the charity auction and raffle at each and every event. A huge thank you to all the Foundation team as well as the golfers who show continual support for this special cause.
A big thank you also goes to Vinomarket for sponsoring all Individual and Team prizes.
Our next Sala Golf event is at La Canada on the 15th October. Please reach out to the Sala Golf team if you would like to join:
