Young Driver AMR was a new team created by Aston Martin Racing specifically to compete in the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship and the 24h Le Mans endurance race. La Sala is a proud sponsor of the Young Driver AMR team for over three years now. But instead of La Sala restaurant logo, the Aston Martin Vantage GTE racing car displays Marbella logo on the left side of the vehicle, promoting the chic Costa del Sol destination, providing prestige and most of all to giving it international exposure.
Young Driver AMR had a perfect 2014 season in the FIA World Endurance championship. After the victory at the 24h of Le Mans in June, Young Driver AMR now claims the World Cup in the GTE-Am class and wins the championship in style. At the series penultimate round at Bahrain, Kristian Poulsen, David Heinemeier Hansson and Nicki Thiim drove to their fourth victory of the season. The win secured Young Driver AMR, Poulsen and Heinemeier Hansson the World Cup title before the final round at Sao Paulo in Brazil in two weeks time.
“The championship means a lot to us, the team, David and Nicki and also Richie Stanaway, who raced with us three times this season, did a perfect job. To win Le Mans and now the World Cup in our second year in this championship is fantastic”, was Poulsen delighted.
The team owner Jan Struve, who is a regular visitor to his holiday residence in Marbella, is a good friend of Sala Group’s chairman Ian Radford. “What Jan has achieved is amazing. Winning the World Championship and Le Mans 24 hour race in the past 12 months has been his longtime dream. I know how much this means to him and the work and dedication he has put in to achieve this. Jan is also a great promotor of Marbella within his personal and business world,” commented Radford.
