Sala Golfers take on Valle Romano in Estepona and raise thousands for local children’s charity.
Another great day of competitive golf took place on Saturday 27th May for the Sala Golfers at Valle Romano Golf & Resort in Estepona.
The Sala golfers were welcomed back by the Sala Golf Team with sandwiches as well as a selection of Sala Golf merchandise, before venturing off to their tees for a 9am shotgun start.
The proud sponsors were to support, with Vinomarket supplying a selection of the best wines for the Individual and Team prizes. PG Golf Academy supported by their fantastic set up for Beat the Pro and prizes.
Fluent Finance Abroad were also present as a Sala Golf sponsor, offering expert mortgage advice in support of our league as well as newcomers La Sala Homes.
After a splendid day on the course, the Sala Golfers made their way back to La Sala Puerto Banus for the prize giving, receiving a warm welcome as they enjoyed a selection of free flowing nibbles and drinks.
Charity lies at the heart of the Sala Golf competitions and as always the players raised a substantial amount of funds for AVOI: Children’s Oncology Volunteers Association with a total of 2,090€ raised during this event to put towards a grand total of 12,000€ to organise a trip for the children to DisneyLand Paris.
Looking at the results, the Closest to the Pin on the day (Par 3) was won by Tom Edwardson.
The Closest to the Pin (Par 4) was won by James O’Docherty JR.
The Longest Drive was won by Pablo Krauel.
The Individual prizes across two categories – category A is scratch to 12.4 handicap and category B is 12.5 Handicap and above were won as follows:
Category A: The Runner Up was Jens Smidt with 41 points overall. The Individual Winner was Jonathan Hawtin scoring an impressive 42 points overall.
Category B: The Runner Up was Steve Richardson with 39 points overall. The Individual Winner was Pascale Hall, with 44 points overall. Fantastic result!
The Team prizes were won as follows:
3rd Place: Ice Slicers with 94 points.
2nd Place: Team Toys with 96 points.
1st Place: Par-Tee stealing the top spot with 97 points.
The one and only Wooden Spoon prize was awarded this time to Tim Van Dijk with 22 points…better luck next time Tim!
