2014 campbell

On the eve of the 2014 US Open taking place this week at Pinehurst, USA, from tomorrow 12-15 June, the 2005 winner of this Major tournament, New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell – was seen enjoying a night out with his partner at the White & Gold Party at La Sala by the Sea, Marbella’s chic boutique beach club close to Puerto Banús.

Michael, who famously won the US Open at Pinehurst, and the richest prize in golf – the £1 million HSBC World Match Play Championship in the same year, and who now plays on the European Tour, is a regular visitor to Marbella on the Costa del Golf, where he likes to play some of the prized courses and where he is soon to have his own eponymous golf academy, at the ultra luxurious 6 star Villa Padierna Palace Hotel.

Opening in the summer, the Michael Campbell Golf Academy is the golfer’s response to a letter from Jack Nicklaus after he won the US Open, telling the New Zealander he had a “responsibility to the game”.

When in the Marbella area, Michael loves to play golf among friends, and recently took part in a La Sala Super League charity game, raising funds for DEBRA. On this occasion in June, he and his partner were in Marbella to enjoy the glittering White & Gold Party at La Sala by the Sea, the chic, bijou beach club which was bathed in flaming torch light and filled with a glamorous crowd dressed in shimmering white and gold, and including a number of other famous faces.
