Local Singer launches Gigs 4 Wigs Event to help cancer patients feel beautiful!
Thursday April 5th marks the launch of a new initiative that will assist to raise funds in order to purchase wigs, health and beauty treatments for people undergoing chemotherapy in the local community.
Taking place in the Live Lounge at La Sala Banus, the event has been organised by local singer Zoe Louise who feels passionate about the cause since her mother Marion Hughes was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2017.
Zoe explains:
“During 6 months of chemotherapy we spent time at the Costa del Sol Hospital, getting to know both the staff and patients. On our first visit, I asked one of the nurses where the best place was to buy a wig. She explained to me that they used to hand out a list of recommended stores, but that there isn’t really anywhere now, just one shop in Malaga! We searched online and soon found that wigs are much more expensive than we ever could have imagined.
Seeing my mum go through such an awful time without being able to help her feel better physically was very difficult. Together we wanted to help others and so came up with the idea of raising money to buy wigs for people in the same situation.”
The event will mark a year since Marion’s diagnosis, with a variety of amazing entertainers including Zoe Louise who started her career performing at La Sala Banus.
Tickets are priced at just 10€ and include a glass of bubbly, canapes and a 10€ voucher to be used at La Sala Banus on your next visit. A raffle and auction will also be taking place.
