Another great day of competitive golf took place at Valle Romano

Another great day of competitive golf took place on Saturday 21st May for the Sala Golfers at the outstanding  Valle Romano Golf Course, a paradise next to the Mediterranean Coast.

The Sala  golfers were welcomed back by the Sala Golf Team with sandwiches as well as a selection of Sala Golf merchandise, before venturing off to their tees for a shotgun start.

The proud sponsors were Vinomarket supplying a selection of the best wines for the Individual and Team prizes. International Marbella were back on the 10th Tee with their premium Gin & Tonic bar, homemade sausage rolls and a charismatic James Bond quiz.

After a splendid day on the course, the Sala Golfers made their way back to La Sala Puerto Banus for the prize giving, receiving a warm welcome as they enjoyed a selection of free flowing nibbles and drinks.

Charity lies at the heart of the Sala Golf competitions and as always the players raised a substantial amount of funds  for the very special Elena Gaite Foundation, through the Charity Auction and Raffle. A huge thank you to all the Foundation team members as well as the golfers for showing their support for a great cause.

The Closest to the Pin (Par 3) on hole 4 was won by Dale Atkinson, taking home a magnum of wine, supplied and sponsored by International Marbella.

The Closest to the Pin approach shot (Par 4) on hole 14 was won by Mike Murphy, also winning a magnum of wine, supplied and sponsored by International Marbella.

The Longest Drive for men on hole number 1 was won by John Balague, who managed to smash his drive down the fairway and take home a magnum of wine, supplied and sponsored by International Marbella.

The Longest Drive for ladies, also on hole number 1, was won by Claudia Phillips, winning a magnum of wine, supplied and sponsored by International Marbella.

The Individual Prizes were next, and the runner up, with 40 points overall was Oliver East, taking home La Sala vouchers and wine sponsored by Vinomarket. The Individual Winner on the day was Jaakko Karo, with 41 points and taking home the top individual prize of the day.

The 3rd place team at Valle Romano was Team Par-Tee, with a very impressive 88 points overall!

In 2nd place was Team Toys, with 89 points overall, Captained by Steve Richardson.

The winning team on the day was Team Ice Slicers! Scoring a huge 95 points overall.

It wouldn’t be right to not host the famous Wooden Spoon prize, and this month it was Dale Atkinson, with 18 points overall. As a Sala Golf regular, we are certain Dale will be back at our next event to show what he is made of!

A huge thank you to all the Sala Golfers, Valle Romano Golf Club, The Elena Gaite Foundation and all of our dedicated sponsors for another incredible day of golf.
